Davis Horton

2025 Annual Fly Fishing Show Presenter

Friday, 7:00 PM – Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing

Davis Horton discovered the joys of fly fishing for smallmouth bass as a teenager and he has been a warm-water fanatic ever since. While smallmouth bass are his bread and butter, Davis also delves into other unique species. Bowfin, northern pike, bighead carp, hybrid striped bass, and panfish are a few of his favorite fly targets. Davis is the first documented angler to catch fish in all 99 counties across Iowa. He also holds the Iowa state record for spotted bass, which was caught on fly tackle in June of 2021. When Davis is not fishing, he’s busy being a father, a husband, and works full time as a professional conservation educator. He received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with an emphasis on Biological Conservation from Drake University in 2016. Davis has spent nearly a decade presenting public programs about conservation, wildlife, hunting, fishing, and more to the general public across north Iowa. His expertise in conservation translates well to his lifestyle as an angler. 2025 is Davis’s first professional guiding season in Iowa and he is excited to start taking on clients.
