Dubuque Fly Fishers Hold Basic Fly Tying Training
By Rob Kundert
The Dubuque Fly Fishers (DFF) put together a basics of fly tying session at their meeting on Monday, October 13, at the Swiss Valley Nature Center. Lead by professional fly tyer, and DFF member, C.J. Klenske, five students of all ages learned basic techniques as, step by step, they tied a Wooly Worm and a Pheasant Tail Nymph. Each student was matched with a DFF member who helped them along the way. Because some students only had materials, some only tools and some didn’t have anything, the DFF member filled in the gaps with what they needed. The session came off well. Another Basic Fly Tying session is on the schedule for the meeting on January 12. Text and photos provided by Rob Kundert.
